Let’s Talk about Corset Tops

I was able to squeeze my waist into the size of an orange and a half” -Lady Featherington

I blame it on Bridgerton- the popular Netflix show where hair is primped, breasts are perked, and women are properly primed to be courted by men of high stature. While today we do without the masquerade balls and tea parties, 17th-century fashion has made a rather immense comeback with corset tops.

Whether it gives you that hourglass figure, compliments your aesthetic, or satisfies your European love affair fantasy, this body armor may be the next best thing to add to your closet.

The style has definitely evolved and been rather modernized for our era, so there is no need to have your maid ring the air out of your lungs with satin ribbons and ties. I mean just look at all the options…

Influencers, celebrities, and models, like Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, and Lizzo, have certainly paved the way for girls and women everywhere to hop on this trend. And WOW do they look incredible.

Something about strapping into a sturdy, flattering, and whimsical piece of clothing like a corset top makes me feel like I’m in a sexy fairytale. Isn’t that what fashion is all about? Who says we can’t play dress-up every day?

My point is: I love resurfacing of fashion trends, and this one being from centuries ago makes it all that more exhilarating. It makes me want to dine with the Duke and Duchess or parley with a pirate.

While I am no “Lady Wistledown,” I can certainly say that corset tops are undoubtedly capturing the eyes of countless eligible bachelors this season.
